A Gothic Jekyll-and-Hyde story for the 21st century

When Robert Forrest, eminent plastic surgeon, goes missing from his chic London home, his friends from medical school, James and Steven, are worried. He didn’t seem suicidal, he wasn’t in any danger – what happened to him?

While James and Steven search for a logical answer, Robert’s godson, James’s son Will, begins to suspect that something much more diabolical has taken place. Who was the mysterious, beautiful Leila who Robert was seeing before his disappearance? Does this have anything to do with the grotesque antique mirror Robert bought before he vanished? And why does the mirror have a twin, living in Leila’s abandoned apartment?

As the men search for their missing friend, they don’t realise that Robert is much closer than they thought, increasingly desperate and increasingly dangerous. That’s the thing about deals with the devil: they never end well. And for Robert and his friends, time is running out.

The Possessions of Doctor Forrest was published to critical acclaim and commercial success in 2011. Festival acquired the film rights in the face of stiff competition from major companies and has been working with the author, Richard T. Kelly, on the screenplay since then.
