TV DRAMA

FESTIVAL FILM & TV is an independent production company founded in 1992 by award – winning producer Ray Marshall. Ray has been an independent producer since 1976 and produced a wide range of programmes before setting up Festival Film & TV. He was nominated for an Emmy for THE FIFTEEN STREETS and won the International Emmy for Best Drama for THE BLACK VELVET GOWN.

Between 1992 and 2001, Festival produced 15 Catherine Cookson mini-series for ITV.
THE COOKSON DRAMAS became one of ITV’s major brands, bringing in huge audiences and attracting the cream of Britain’s acting talent, including Catherine Zeta Jones, Sean Bean, Robson Green, Ray Stevenson, Emilia Fox, Nigel Havers. Samantha Bond, Denholm Elliott, Emily Mortimer,  and Bob Peck.

Festival’s latest production, HALF BROKEN THINGS, aired on ITV at the end of 2007 to
critical acclaim. Adapted from Morag Joss’s psychological thriller novel, the 2-hour single film
was written by Alan Whiting, directed by Tim Fywell, and starred Penelope Wilton, Daniel Mays and Sinead Matthews. 

Television drama in development includes THE GATECRASHER, a comedy drama written by
Sally Wainwright (At Home with the Braithwaites) and based on the novel by Madeleine Wickham (aka Sophie Kinsella).

FESTIVAL FILMS, Festival’s feature film arm, was set up in 2003 to develop and produce theatrical motion pictures.

Its first feature film was MAN DANCIN’, a low-budget indie film co-produced with director Norman Stone’s 1A Productions.  A contemporary gangster film with a spiritual element, sets in Glasgow’s gangland, it was released theatrically in the UK in 2004 and on DVD by Columbia Tristar.

Feature films in development include THE COLOUR, an epic period drama set in New Zealand in the 1860s, based on the novel by Whitbread Award winner Rose Tremain; NOW YOU SEE ME,
a compelling contemporary love story based on the novel by Lesley Glaister; and THE INFINITE WISDOM OF HARRIET ROSE, a family film based on the book by Diana Janney.
